Artist description
"At this point in my life, I'm wanting more. I want to see things, do things and experience life," says Jameson Workman, 18-year-old singer/guitarist of the Fresno, California based band The Infamous They. "Each day I'm seeing things from a new perspective, meeting new people and sharing moments that I can take with me. It's a huge world-all you have to do is look up at the sky and you'll instantly be humbled by it's grandeur-and I want to take it all in."
Such an idealistic view of the world is typical of someone of Workman's youth, but more atypical is his ability to translate these experiences of daily learning into song.
"It's my outlet-my release. When I can't make sense of life at times, I put it to music, and it helps me figure it all out." This music has been culminated into two EP's released by the band, the first self-titled release arriving in 2000, and their latest release "On Second Thought", fresh off the press. "Being eighteen years old and already having two albums to my name, that's something I'm especially proud of. It's an ever-evolving process, though, and I want to see us blossom as an entity and grow musically, as well as personally, within this group."
Formed in August 1999, The Infamous They has seen a new rhythm section join them for their second effort. The band currently consists of Jameson Workman on vocals and guitar, as well as the other original member, Grant Bailey, playing lead guitar. Friend and drummer Pete Wolf, whom co-produced the latest Infamous They release, called upon Josh Addison, a local bassist who's played with numerous bands in the area.
"Working with them in the studio, you can see that these guys have something special" says Wolf. "I'd known Josh since he was a teenager, and called him up to come meet Jameson and Grant and to listen to the tunes, and ironically when he arrived, these three had already played a show together." In early January of 2000, an early version of The Infamous They debuted opening up for one of Addison's bands at a small coffee shop.
"It's funny how life runs in circles" says Addison, "You never know where the next day, or next show, or next person you meet will lead you."
The Infamous They have already developed a strong local following, playing clubs, colleges and other venues in the region. They have also been featured on various local radio stations, and been a guest artist at Tommy Hilfiger sponsored events. But their greatest achievements have come as of late, when a song of theirs from the debut EP received MTV airplay.
It seems with youth, limitless enthusiasm, energy and a genuine love for music, the greatest achievements are yet to come. Currently, The Infamous They have their sights set on playing to an ever broadening audience, and inking a major label deal in the near future.
