Artist History Poppa Tee BIO. Tyrone Mckinney Sr. was born June 19, 1964, to Arlene & Russell Mckinney Sr. His parents separated when he was 4yrs. old. Tyrone was raised in Compton California. He lived with his mother, alone with an older sister & brother. Tyrone attended Dickerson Elementary School. During those years, T was inspired by his family & music. He & his family hobbies, included singing together at home, to music such as OOh Baby- Baby by Smoky Robinson, Reasons, by Earth, Wind & Fire, Wild Flower by New Birth and much more. By the time Tyrone was in Jr. High School, he began listen to funk groups such as Parliment, Bootsy, The Bar-Kays etc.. He was highly influence by rap music, especially by groups from his hometown such as N.W.A. He personally know artists like the Wilson brothers of the Gap Band, D J Quick, Hi-C, 2nd to None, Sugar Free etc. After graduating from High School, Tyrone started writing & performing his own songs such a s Shine Your Light On Me, Can You Tell Me, etc. His favorite rap artist is 2 Pac. Tyrone's mother passed away in May of 96. He dedicated his music career to his mother, 2 sons & family. Words to the wise. If I could reach people world wide, or touch a few lives in a positive way, with my songs & lyrics. Then I have achieved my goal.
