Artist History
New Society was formed in 1996 by guitarist Austin Cain, and bassist Rob Jensen, In Tualatin Oregon. They soon acquired drummer Ryan Hamilton, who went to school with the other two. They went by the name of Numbskull at the time. They started as a three piece, playing local shows, and building a name for them selves. In 1998, when guitarist Jess Tate's band broke up, he was asked to join New Society. Tate had also gone to school with the other three. Now as a four piece, New Society was able to have the full aggressive but melodic sound they had always wanted. They went and recorded a demo in the summer of 1999, and sent it out to some record labels. It got interest from a few labels, one of which was Edge Records, who soon signed the band. New Society went down to Paramount Studios, Hollywood in May of 2000 to record their first full length CD, "Trials and Tribulation". After their first CD the band felt it still was missing something in their sound. Then in 2001 they decided to add a full time vocalist by the name of Jason Mason. Finally the sound they were trying to accomplish was complete. They went back down to California in early 2002 to record their follow up CD "The Bonnie Situation." This time around they recorded at Stall #2 Recording Studio with well-known punk producer Darian Rundall (Pennywise, Deviates, 98 Mute). New Society has a vast amount of influences. Bands such as Good Riddance, Strung Out, and Slick Shoes, and also a metal influence from bands such as: Slayer, In Flames, and Children of Bodom. |

Press Reviews
A powerful dose of what new school punk rock should be. Charged by 100 mph pounding and cracking drums, driven with crunching guitars and vocals attacking like only real hardcore, New Society deliver a great first relaese that sets them far apart from their emo-punk peers. Their music is tight, full of catchy sing a long but never compromises. It maintains a sense of raw authentic content delivered in a well crafted package. A band to watch for! The New FLip PRess |
