    Artist History
Iscariot is a Dutch black/ death metal band founded in April 1995, by former members of Obductio Deum. Iscariot's music finds its roots in different kinds of extreme metal, but also contains classical and symphonic elements, due to the synths that play an important role. Iscariot's main musical tools are melody worked into brutal compositions and aggression alternated with bombastic power. Pounding drums and crushing guitars interpret the vision that there is nothing in the world more rotten, amoral and disposable than man. The lyrics deal with individuals only capable of satisfying their own precious little egos. In 1998 Iscariot recorded their selfproduced debut CD titled "Horror Vacui", at Excess Studio in Rotterdam (mixed by Mari Wagemans). With this powerful album Iscariot made their breakthrough in the Dutch metal scene. Many gigs with bands like Naglfar, My Dying Bride, Liar of Golgotha and Houwitser confirm this. In 1999 a promo CD was recorded, also at Excess, mainly to get a record-deal. They succeeded. Skull Crusher Records appeared to be the perfect partner in crime. In March 2001 Skull Crusher released "Feasting Supremacy" (produced and mixed by Hand Pieters), the MCD that'll rock the underground with five tracks of inexorable metal. 1995: In April, Patrick, Rob and Martijn decide to leave Obductio Deum in order to start a new band, called Iscariot. Within few months the line-up is completed with Pieter (vocals), Bob (guitar) and Marc (bass). Drummer Martijn leaves the band and is replaced by Chaos (ex-MXM Bob). In December 1995 their demotape "Confessions" is recorded at Staddijk, Nijmegen. 1996: Chaos leaves Iscariot in May due to musical differences. In December Ingmar joins the band as the new drummer. 1997: Pieter quits the band in the early spring. Marc (bass) takes over the vocals. Besides doing some gigs Iscariot mainly concentrates on writing new songs. 1998: In the summer Iscariot records the debut CD "Horror Vacui" and finally things get started, 2 tracks from their debut CD appear on the compilation CD "Crushed Skull #1". 1999: In November Iscariot records 3 tracks for promotional use. 2000: 1 track from the promo appears on the compilation CD "The Silent Shining". Iscariot gets a record deal with Skull Crusher Records and 2 additional tracks are recorded. 2001: Ingmar leaves the band and is replaced by Alex (former member of Animosity). Marike is recruited as bass-player to give Marc the opportunity to fully concentrate on the vocals. The MCD "Feasting Supremacy" is released in March...
