Artist description sinombre is a san francisco based band playing brittle rock. the band was spawned in 1998 by andy slopsema (guitar), a midwest fugitive who has outlived all his short-lived ann arbour punk rock bands, and gabriella marks (vocals, guitar), a photographer and kusf dj. friendly coercion fleshed out the sound with josh singer (bass), seth fragoman (drums) and c.d. cummings (organ). the songs of sinombre emerge in a fragile reverie, delicate melodies that interweave and ascend... but dark droning textures begin to make their presence known, and songs that seemed at first to be serene and slow, contenders for lullabies, even, reveal their hidden tensions, and shatter of their own free will, ending in train wrecks and dying dissonance.
