Artist History
Mantione has written music for multi-media performance art, experimental video, computer interactive projects, sound installations, as well as acoustic pieces for orchestra and chamber ensembles. His music has been broadcast live on KUSC from the LA Coun ty Museum of Art in Los Angeles and his recordings have been heard on: Inner Space (Croatia), Sonar Map (Seattle), Vast Field (not to scale) (Pacific Grove, CA), FOLDOVER (Oberlin, OH), The Ways and Mistaken Pathways (Lithuania), Delusions and Furies (Dea rborn, MI), Fresh Ears (Minneapolis,MN) art@radio (Baltimore, MD),Virtual Concert Hall (Aspen, CO), Difficult Listening (Perth, Australia) and on-line at the Canadian Electro-acoustic Community's web site (CEC). In 2000, his Sinusoidal Tendencies was rel eased by Innova Records on the Sonic Circuits VIII compilation CD of electro-acoustic music. This year the CD-ROM version of Sinusoidal Tendencies was included in the European Media Arts Festival (Osnabrück, Germany) and Immedia 1901 Festival at Michigan University (US). His Human Sounds will be included in the Underwood Audio's (UK) box set of CDs this year. He has collaborated with visual artist Alysse Stepanian on numerous projects involving performance and experimental video. Their work has been pr esented world-wide including recent screenings at Art in General, Here, Dixon Place, Void, Ocularis, and Columbia University in NYC, Most Significant Bytes 2000 (Ohio), The Shy Anne Sound and Video Festival (Washington), Sonic Circuits Circus (Minnesota), Fig and Jan Baum Galleries (LA), The Leeds International Film Festival (UK), HAY-ART Cultural Center and The Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (Armenia) and on-line at wigged.net. Screenings this year include SEAMUS (Society for Electro-acoustic Music in the US) 2001 Festival in Baton Rouge and the Paris/Berlin International Meetings organized by roARatorio.
