Artist History
Chaun Moye is a very talented singer and songwriter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ms. Moye honed her skills under the tutelage of Fayette Pickney of the legendary Three Degrees and Owen Brown Fiddlerr! master vocalist and soul violinist (Owen currently coaches Mary J. Blige and has worked with Celine Dion). She also found insights into the roots of jazz with guidance from Arthur Harper and Nate Murray. Ms. Moye studied at Temple University and majored in performing arts and theatre. While at Temple she worked with several professionals who had a profound effect on her music, growth and development. Most noted are Cedric Napoleon, bassist and lead singer of Pieces of a Dream, and Johnny Hobbs Jr., of Philadelphia's Freedom Theater. Chaun parlayed her talent and experience into winning Temple University's open mike contest several times with original material. With her material she also received airtime on WDAS-FM and Drexel University's radio stations in Philadelphia. Ms. Moye had the opportunity to be a member of the Civil Rights Choir for the celebration of the March on Washington, directed by Curtis King sharing the stage with such greats as: Eartha Kitt, Patti Austin, The Richard Smallwood Choir, Billy Preston, and Esther Rolle. Ms. Moye made a guest appearance on Baltimore's Underground T.V. music program. A polished actress, Ms. Moye has performed in Ntozake Shange's For Colored Girls who Commit Suicide when the Rainbow is Enuf, as the Lady in Red, under the direction of Johnny Hobbs Jr. and Fats Waller's 'Ain’t Misbehavin', produced by Advante Theater Company of Philadelphia. She studied dance at Brenda Lee Dance Studio as a result of her training won the Focus Guild Award presented by Quincy Entertainment Group. Working in the music industry with various professionals allowed Chaun to expand her songwriting to include Rhythm and Blues, House Music, Folk, Hip-Hop, Rock, Gospel, and Jazz. She has also produced public service announcements for the Center for Disease Control for Safer Sex. Chaun also has volunteered time to support the Eddie Kendricks Memorial Foundation in Washington, D.C.
