Artist description
BIO:
"Catfish Haven, whose name is derived from a Missouri trailer park that
the singer grew up in, is a recent addition to the Chicago independent music
scene. As a three-piece consisting of an acoustic guitar, electric bass, and
drums they produce a unique blend of stripped down folk-influenced pop. Lead
singer/songwriter George Hunter's poetic lyrics are delivered with a vocal
intensity that is at the same time emotionally powerful and beautifully
melodic, leading some to draw comparisons to Neil Young or Neutral Milk Hotel
front man Jeff Mangum. Since their first show in the spring of 2001, Catfish
Haven has made a decent run playing notable Chicago venues like the Fireside
Bowl and Schubas Tavern along with a handful of shows around the midwest.
With no conceivable end in sight, this fledgling band's mission is to play
sincere music without taking themselves too seriously. Currently unsigned,
they have no officially released recordings but plans are in the works to
head into the studio as soon as possible..."
