Artist History
The band Vicious Fiction first met at an old movie theatre. Abe Camerlin, Tim Fischer, Danny Bristol and newly hired part-timer John Brock worked there together. John heard about some guys that played a little music together and took interest. John inquired to Abe about the talents of Tim, hearing he played guitar. Then on December 17, 1996, they all got together for their first jam. Amplifiers consisted of one small amp furnished by Tim for his red Fender, and Abe's Crate bass amplifier. They had to run vocals through the bass amp and the bass through the bass amp. Danny banged out a beat on his drum kit. John began to sing some words that he wrote. The group clicked and they wrote several songs. Result was high energy, dark music that really rocked. The group would meet and write songs out back of the movie theatre. Then the search for a name became the next task and would not be found until several weeks later. John had a strange dream. He woke up frustrated, confused. The dream was fantasy, fiction, not real. However at the same time the dream had appeared very real, and vicious. About eight months later Lionel Phelps auditioned for a part with the band. He later became the lead guitarist. Lou brought energy to the band that was missing in some of the songs. He also brought a P.A system. The band purchased more gear like new Pearl drums, new guitars and vocal effects. Vicious Fiction would go on to play in the winter months at Amiees Coffee Haus, Skippy's Mistake and other places that year. Vicious fiction needed to put out a demo album though if they wanted to be heard more. The band had done some recording before on home equipment, but needed a more professional approach. The idea to cut a CD came about. Then Lou left the town for awhile to battle personal issues in his life. The remaining members of Vicious Fiction cut the CD in June 1998. The cd is a seven song project done on a $1000 budget. It took three remixes and mastering to get the finished product. Currently Tim and John of Vicious Fiction are writing more material. Danny, Abe and Tim are all in college finishing master degrees and the like. Lou is in the navy and drops as time allows. They would love to hear from you.
