    Artist History
THE MANSIONS On hearing the first strains of The Mansions music, one could describe their sound as textured, deep and vast. With over sixty songs written and a musical range that has been compared to the Doors, Bowie and Radiohead, it would seem that the Mansions are poised for success. Originally formed by guitarist Johnny Burke and drummer/keyboardist Chris Cano, The Mansions completed their line-up with the addition of vocalist Eddie O and bassist Jeff Rodriguez. "The four of us were thirsty for a style that had existed only in England," says Eddie O. "We were fans of bands such as Suede and Pulp. But they never achieved a sound that was palatable to an American audience. I think we have added that extra component that will carry us across." Since their formation, the band has solidified their style and gained a fan base by playing extensively within the local L.A. club scene - at venues like the Roxy and the Whiskey. In doing so, they received the almost immediate attention of label, Radioactive Records as well as the eye of Eagle Cove Deluxe Management. The Mansions have formed their own label, Prometheus Records, and have recorded their debut CD, Charms for Love and Revenge. "We knew that the only way people could connect with our vision is if we took matters into our own hands," says Chris. The album and artwork represent a complete vision and expression of the Mansions - sexual, sophisticated and stylistic. Songs are delivered with unforgettable pop/rock hooks. The band recently held a showcase to celebrate the release of their CD. When a friend asked them how they felt jammin’ in a place where artists such as Destiny’s Child, The Eagles and Guns ‘n Roses had been, they replied, "comfortable - as we should be."In an age where some critics and even artists, have proclaimed the fake marketability and disposableness of rock music, one sometimes wonders, why even try? Yet, inevitably a movement comes along that rattles us to our core and brings us to our feet. Barring the advent of the next big thing, one has to work hard and preserver in order to find material that foots the bill – an act that is creative and interesting enough to listen to - over and over again. The Mansions certainly fit the bill. With their epic choruses and rich, driving sound, they are more than enough to keep you occupied for quite a while. At least until that next big thing arrives. Come to think of it - they just might be.....
