Artist description
Thaddeus Hogarth, former lead singer/songwriter/guitarist for the award-winning Heavy Metal Horns, leads this 4 piece soulful funk-rock unit. The new sound is reminiscent of the 70's styles of Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone and Bill Withers. The feel is raw and organic with many of the defining sounds of the 70's; Hammond B3 organ, Fender Rhodes piano, Clavinet and the ever present wah-wah rhythm guitar. Thaddeus' chromatic harmonica playing in the tradition of little Stevie Wonder adds even more color to the already interesting mix. The all-star line up includes Boston Pops' David Buda on Bass, former LA session drummer extraordinaire Joey Scrima on drums and former RCA recording artist Craig Stevens on keyboards. No surprise, therefore, that the high energy shows are musically alive and venture into unplanned creative territories..........
Truly the funkiest blend of R&B funk rock east of Lenny Kravitz. Described by Billboard Magazine as "Soul Terra Firma". |

Artist History
Born in England and raised in St. Kitts, West Indies, multi-instrumentalist, and Berklee College of Music guitar faculty member, Thaddeus Hogarth brings a diverse set of musical influences to his current Boston-based project. Since his tenure as the songwriting force behind Boston's award-winning Heavy Metal Horns, the singer-songwriter has created a powerhouse unit delivering a collection of serious funky-retro tunes that make you stop, listen and groove. The line-up includes drumkit and percussion virtuoso Joey Scrima (Connie Stevens, David Benoit) and bass genius David Buda (The Boston Pops). The live line up adds Craig Stevens (formerly on RCA) on keyboards and background vocals. This band holds nothing back and the live shows are electrifying. This year marks his second solo CD, "Trying to Believe" (March 16th, 2001 Spinning Records). Released to rave reviews, this CD has already earned Thaddeus and his band the Best Blues/R&B category of the national Independent Music Awards. These awards are sponsored by and featured in the 2001 issue of the national publication, The Musician's Atlas on sale at bookstores everywhere. Judges for this award included the likes of Aimee Mann, Jimmy Cliff, Lisa Loeb, Jose Feliciano, and Joshua Redman, to name a few. A single from "Trying To Believe" features a collaboration with grammy nominee, reggae singer Sister Carol.. |
