Artist description
SUMACK is a junk rock band, if that helps any. From reaches farflung, representing communities New English, Carolinian, and Lone Starred in nature, Sumack is comprehensive. Veterans of bands you would have never found on the same bill, Sumack is unlikely. Converged and crystallized slowly between 1996 and 1998 in Venice California, Sumack found itself hardened further by long hours in one room apartments fashioning a homemade collection of demos. They became the album called Buttery Hotcakes: the album which not only pushed the limits of eight track recording past reasonable hope, but also challenged the notion that post hip-hop, beat-intensive production and sharp, crafty songwriting do not mix. “They do,” said Sumack, “They mix! See?” And people agreed, and the band grew. Figuratively, of course. And in 1998, more recordings were made and deals were signed etcetera so that in early 1999, courtesy of upstart
Tainted Records, we can all expect some hot, fresh Sumack.
