Press Reviews
after pretty much being the glue that bound the popsicle sticks of the new york neo-pop scene, eric sprague apparently realized that he could do that too. and he does, and does it better. the sprague character--different, somehow, from eric sprague--is too damn protean for his own good. if lou barlow had a younger brother who didn't have any issues with self-doubt or self-loathing, it would be sprague. he's more off-the-cuff than pavement and about half as concerned that he looks off-the-cuff. the record is an easy joy--like having the day off when you didn't expect it. "fake homeyz" is truly fearsome, elucidating the forbidden connection between the beastie boys and a-ha, for which sprague will either be punished or lionized. it's much too early to tell which.
