Artist History In the summer of 1991 wildman Buddy King envisioned an assault on the boring, colorless music he was hearing on the radio and the lifeless live shows he was witnessing. He felt that the energy, excitement and spontaneity made popular by big rock bands of the 70's and early 80's like KISS, and later Motley Crue, was missing. After a lot of thought, Buddy decided to call this venture Sonic Jezi, as in a futuristic Jezebel. Jezi started out as a solo project until the spring of 1993, when Buddy met and bonded with guitarist, Jeff Krunch. They formed Tribulation and had mild success opening for bands such as Megadeth and Pantera in 1997, until the drummer(who shall remain nameless) was admitted to drug rehab. Due to Buddy and Jeff's strong anti-drug stance, the decision was made to no longer work with the drummer. Buddy and Jeff felt it was time to take a rest from playing for a while to regroup and form a new plan of attack, with what has become the "High Energy Rock and Roll" sound of Sonic Jezi. After writing extensively, and constantly auditioning drummers, Buddy and Jeff finally found Mike Robison (unfortunately Robison had to leave Jezi in late 1998 due a major blood disorder.) After auditioning numerous drummers in early 1999, Shannon Duprey was the obvious choice for the position. Being familiar with Duprey's former band, Majesty (a tribute to Queen,) Jeff and Buddy knew his powerhouse drumming and melodic vocals was a perfect fit. They asked him to join the group in early 1999 to form the nucleus of what is now known as Sonic Jezi. "The Bone Crunching Sound for the masses of the new millennium." Sonic Jezi's live show is one not to be missed, especially if you like the big productions of days gone past. The band felt that musicians of today were stuck on what's hot "NOW". Sonic put together a total package of sight and sound (implementing lasers, mirrors, fire and smoke) that mesmerizes the mind and captivates its audience for a new generation of Rock and Rollers for years to come.
