Artist description
Second Story: a band from the Philadelphia area whose music is powerful, emotive and sometimes progressive; warm female vocals, insightful lyrics, and intense musical arrangements meld together to create a unique sound -- and an engaging listen. The band is easily recognized by its signature vocal stylings; with four present and former lead vocalists in the band, the harmonies and blends that are created often define the band's very original sound. Also lending great influence to the band's unique textures and songwriting style is the band's embracing of musical technology; incredible layered guitar sounds and enveloping bass textures work in tandem with atmospheric keyboard sounds and tight drumming to create an ambience and timbre not often found in pop and rock. Ultimately, though, the songwriting is king. The music -- while skillfully performed and impeccably produced -- is interesting, accessible, and memorable. Enjoy! |

Artist History
Second Story has performed at many well-known venues and festivals in the Philadelphia region. Now in its fifth year, the band actually goes back much farther; lifelong friends John, Scott and Mark have been writing and performing together since they were children. Nothing can hone a vocal blend like learning to sing together. |

Press Reviews
"The Philadelphia Area has produced many great bands, including October Project, Grey Eye Glances and Second Story." Russ Elliot • "Dramatic, epic arrangements of reverb-drenched acoustic guitars, spacey keyboards, and patient mid-tempos accompany lush, expressive female vocals and harmonies. Something you might hear on the second stage at Lilith Fair, if there was one." Kelly Bauman, Listen.Com • "The vocals on this CD deserve a special mentioning. Female lead singer Danielle Capoferri has a beautiful and strong voice that reminds of that of Joanne Hogg (Iona) - especially in the quieter and more reflective moments - and of Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering) in the darker moments. Also excellent is the use of harmony vocals of three other band members, which evoke parallels to Echolyn... All in all a strong CD, well recorded and well written. This should appeal to a wide audience." Carsten Busch, Background Magazine |
