Artist description
dogsounds music is one facet of the collaborative work of foxx wolf and martin robinson. foxx has been a synth afficionado since the 80's, and is the kind of synth player who longs for the good ol' days. he wishes he had been born ten years earlier, when electronic music was still fresh and exciting. he wasn't, though, so that's tough cookies for him. he tries to capture the best of late 70's/early 80's electronic music, with maybe a hint of today. not dance, not easy listening, just...well...easy. martin was 'badgered' into the electronic music world by foxx, until he eventually realised that he quite liked the stuff, that it was cool, and discovered that he may actually have some latent talent. and that he could take even more electronic boxes and computers to bits! martin on foxx: foxx has been tinkering for years with an almost childlike passion, and has been a great inspiration, but I wish he would just get on with it sometimes! foxx on martin: as a non-musician, martin has a unique viewpoint of treating performing music like an experiment or puzzle; a naive but refreshing ability! |

Artist History
dogsounds came to life in a small studio in ducie house, manchester, late 1994. foxx had been playing for years and had never quite got his finger out - his interests were mutually co-ordinated to avoid doing any significant work on any of them - until dogsounds came to be. foxx originally envisioned dogsounds as being his own personal footprint on the world of music and graphic novels. however, martin's collaboration on 'sa mo do do' convinced him that he should be assimilated into the dogsounds collective, and expand it into the world of web design. and finally, whatever you do in life, keep it soupy. |

Press Reviews
"Hey, dogsounds, just listened to the Russian one (Made me wanna drink Vodka) and the Alty one (Made me wanna beat up a soccer fan), liked them both. I will crank 'em all up later when everyone's gone so no-one thinks I'm listening to the Pet Shop Boys in the closet!" (oh dear) - - A Halleron..... "I was very impressed by Kokoarrah Dawn: like Vangelis himself is playing. Well done. Great sounds, great layers. The opening sound is fantastic. Very reminiscent of 1492." - - Galbatron..... "Movies for your mind" - George Kahn, jazz meister..... "A diamond in a sack of coal" - Katharine Silvia..... cool words: rave review in FLUX magazine: "dogsounds is one man, a prodigiously talented and cruelly ignored English eccentric of the old school, whose name is no other than Foxx Wolf. Whilst his moniker demands stardom, this superlative debut confirms his abilities as a genuine heir to the throne of the Eighties godfathers of modern day electronic music such as Vangelis and Jarre. Songs such as the epiphanic opener, Kokoarrah part 1, are finely-crafted, richly-layered orchestral electronica of a kind which simply isn't being done these days - try to imagine trance years before it became trance (i.e. before it was simpified and dumbeddown for mass consumption). Try it." demolition man, Flux October/November 99 issue. |
