Artist description
Description: attic base is modern day New Wave. That may sound like a contradiction but atticbase is able to pull this off. They are unabashedly retro in style, harkening back to a period when New Wave was the dominant form of electronic music. Perhaps the thing that I enjoy most is the fact the when Melissa Mello sings, the songs are slight more synth-poppy. When Michael or Matt Burton sing, the result is more dark and moody. All in all this is a great group with a good future ahead of them- Kinetic Response Records |

Artist History
Based out of Salt Lake City Utah, Attic Base is defined by their unique fusion of retro electro and modern day dance/techno. Formed by brothers Matt and Michael Burton in 1996, their track "Ultra" became one of the top 10 most requested songs on California radio station X96. This prompted them to release their first full length album, "Action" which contained the club hits "Electric Butterfly" and "Sky". Picked up by Kinetic Response Records in 2001, the band released their 2nd album, "Night Vision" which produced the club and chart topping hits, "Watch Me" and "Inside Out". This securred them the headlining local band slot for the "Dark Arts Festival" which included such acts as David J (of Love and Rockets fame), Hungry Lucy, and Belle Morte. Their songwriting ability coupled with inspiring performances are sure to continue the rise of this great act. |

Press Reviews
"I cant wait to hear more stuff...your lead singer has one of the
most unique voices ive heard since gwen stefani, teri nunn or dale bozio..i
love it...i am very into current music and styles that are heavily 80s
influenced.....i feel it could be a big deal in the future.....
I love your sound and look forward to talking in the future"-
Jay Michaels
director of A&R universal records west coast
"Ultra reminds me of great synth pop of the past. If this band has more to give, attic base will give a revival of the great music of the past. hope to hear more from them real soon"-Samuel L. Bronkowitz at Soundclick.com "Salt Lake City trio takes you back to the early '80s with their peppy, synth-fueled dance tracks. A far cry from today's experimental electronica, their innocent sound and strong female vocals are reminiscent of "Borderline" era Madonna." Brolin W. @listen.com Reviewer: Cameron Degroff "A great mix of modern techno and 80's. The lyrics and melodies will leave you in a trance of sound and imagery. A great mix of female and male vocals that stay true to the genre". "Luckily, Attic Base can do the drama without being dramatic. Singer Melissa Mello (who shares vocal duties with Michael and Matt Burton) is a welcome change of pace. She breathes a sense of true drama into every song that she sings"- Dave Richars, Lexicon Magazine (issue #15) |
