    Artist description
    MAURIZIO BAGLINI (Italy), 26, won third prize at the 1998 William Kapell International Piano Competition and was awarded top prize at the 1999 Piano Masters Competition in Monte Carlo. He has performed at several prestigious international festivals in Italy, France, Japan, and Switzerland, and has appeared at the Bellini Theater in Catania, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Salle Gaveau in Paris, where he performed with the Conservatory Orchestra of Paris under the direction of Armin Jordan. In 1999, Mr. Baglini received his master’s diploma from the Accademia Pianistica “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola, Italy, where he studied with Lazar Berman and Piero Rattalino. He has recorded all 27 Chopin etudes, playing on both original and modern instruments, as well as the Chausson Concerto for Violin and Piano with Pavel Berman for Phoenix Classics. He was a semi-finalist at the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in June 2001.
