Artist History
KunK are an Alternative Rock/Punk/Pop four piece hailing from Norwich. In early 2002, brothers Wayne (vocals/guitar) and James Davey (guitar/vocals) started writing and recording songs at home on an 8-track for fun, and released them on the internet. After receiving excellant feedback and gaining numerous fans from places like Australia, Romania, Finland and the USA as well as back home in the UK who wanted to hear more, KunK decided to release a home recorded CD on mp3.com.
Released in January 2003 "...the end." soon earned the band favourable reviews from Gods Of Music, Demoncow, and BURBs who named KunK as Artist Of the Month in April 2003 saying "Raw, uninhibited, unhinged R n B with punk attitude is what they're good at. Rough & ready - the edges haven't been knocked off yet, which gives them an exhilarating power. Come on world, KunK are definately worth checking out, it's for your own pleasure. A band as real as they come!". Meanwhile, their song "Ticks, Lice And Fleas" was flying high at number two in the mp3.com Grunge chart, second only to "You Know You're Right" by Nirvana, "Ulcer" appeared on a covermount CD for Computer Shopper magazine featuring some of the countries up and coming unsigned acts, and "One Down" was included on the BURBs compilation "Bitter Aftertaste". With interest in their music growing fast and with people keen to hear the songs live, KunK added Alex Beveridge (bass) and Tim Barclay (drums) to complete the line-up.
KunK have been compared to Nirvana, Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, Sonic Youth, Seafood and REM, and have a wide range of personal influences including Pixies, The Clash, Kurt Cobain, John Lydon, The Beatles, the general public, love, hate, and life.
KunK - We're not Punk, but we're more Punk than you.

Press Reviews
Bit from BoB:
It's very rare I barge my way into an Artist of the Month article these days but this month I managed to do just that and even pick the band too! It so happens though, JJ is in utter agreement with the selection.
KunK are from Norfolk, stomping ground of "Crone", one of my all time favourite BURBs. Hi Jason! The two bands can't really be compared other than their location though, two totally different sounding bands & styles. As I'm getting on a bit now Im not up with the word on the street on what genres are what (those long term BURBs visitors will know, genres is something I don't do, yet) but both sounds I love. KunK's possibly more exciting than Crone (but maybe that's coz KunK is new, to me, or maybe it's because it's rougher, dirtier, better-louder) to me anyway.
I mentioned earlier JJ's agreement with the selection and that's because KunK feature on the April 1st release of "Bitter Aftertaste", BURBsAudio album and we both rate the track in the top 3 tracks on the album. The other two tracks are from long standing BURBs favourites so KunK suddenly appearing from no-where is exciting stuff. The track featured is "One Down" (which, just to annoy JJ, was picked by me ;-) and is bloody great, heavy guitars, great vocals, good lyrics, it rocks-man.
Their CD they sent in contains 10 tracks, more than 6 on CDs is rare so there's a plus point straight away, no lack of material there. Track 1, "Ticks, Lice and Fleas" is my current track of the moment, I LOVE it, top respect guys & THANK YOU for making it, well done! Come on world, KunK are definately worth checking out, it's for your own pleasure. A band as real as they come!
Must go look at their site one day soon! ;-)
Bit from JJ:
JJ talking here, pop-pickers ... so what are KunK like, then, musically? Raw, uninhibited, unhinged R n B with punk attitude is what they're good at. Rough & ready - the edges haven't been knocked off yet, which gives them an exhilarating power, which comes though even in the slower numbers - "Time For Regret", for example, although it's taken at a more leisurely pace, cannot be described as a ballad - it's more like being slowly strangled to power chords.
Listen, whatever it is they put in the water in Harleston, it should be available on the National Elf. KunK are what happens before aspiring rock bands lose their inspiration. Treat yourself to a churnin' urn of burnin' KunK before it's too late. Love it.
