Artist History
Hospital Food is an original melodic band straight out of the suburban zoo of Salt Lake City. They formed in 1995 motivated by boredom and have since gained recognition locally, nationally, and internationally. Although their music varies with tempo and style, they are often referred to as one of the best and most entertaining groups in the Utah "punk scene". Through the help of local promoters, a web-page, and a regular e-mail list they have been able to cultivate national and international fans and get their music and merchandise to fans as far away as Brazil, China and Canada. |
Hospital Food has shared the stage with many well known bands such as: Unwritten Law, 88 Fingers Louie, Strung Out, US Bombs, Aquabats, Squirt Gun, Youth Brigade, Insatiable, Black Fork, Attaboy Skip, Against All Authority, Blanks 77, Big Wig, Drain Bramaged, Fury 66, Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Ataris, Link 80, The Criminals, No Motiv and Buck O Nine. The band plays frequent out of state shows and have even done a self-financed west-coast tour. |
Why call it "Hospital Food"? In the early days, the band members used to jokingly compare their music to hospital food (unpleasant), and eventually started using it as a name. In more recent times, and after several attempts to change their name to something more professional, it became apparent that fans liked the original name - a different name for a different band |

Press Reviews
"For all those kids out there who dont know, Hospital Food is a local act who can play on par with a lot of larger California style punk outfits . . . their album Suburban Zoo is definitely a solid release. The music itself is reminiscent of all those bands on Theologian records, fitting right into that surf/snowboard punk which is so pervasive today. However, Luke Watkins singing gives the band substantially bigger balls than a lot of pop punk bands which are always on sale at Sam Goody . . . I hope that Hospital Food makes it beyond Utah, because they are better than a hell of a lot of bands Ive heard recently." - SLUG Magazin |
