    Artist History
One half of Clubhouse Pow! is comprised of song writing and guitar playing brothers Ben and Jeremy Gordon, founders of the popular N.E. Wisconsin band, Boy Wonder. During the Boy Wonder years (94-98) the Gordon brothers built a vast audience thanks to their inventive song writing which helped bestow upon them a “Best Original Band” award in the Green Bay Press Gazette poll (1995 and 1996). These years also found them charting on CMJ radio, showcasing at N.A.C.A. and winning a National Broadcasting Society award for best music video for the song, “I’m Home”. The other half of Pow! finds Kris Schaefer and Cheryl Peterson on drums and bass respectively, both formerly of the popular N.E. Wisconsin band “Decodering”, also a N.A.C.A. showcase band. As fate would have it, the very close timing of the two bands breakups in 1998 saw these four musicians getting together to form something quite fresh and unique. Immediately, Pow! was packing clubs in their native land, thanks in part to the loyal fan base built during the previous years. Old and new fans alike were instantly taken by the new direction and the incredibly energetic live shows they were delivering. Green Bay, WI (pop. 100,000) proved to be a limiting city to base in however, so the band packed its bags in June 1999 and moved to the Twin Cities in search of a wider audience. With the completion of their move, and their EP “Five Spankings”, Pow! currently plays Twin Cities clubs such as Lee’s Liquor Lounge, 5 Corners Saloon, The 7th Street Entry, The Uptown Bar, and The Cabooze. Pow! also plays road trip shows at cities in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois. Stylistically, The band draws much of its influence from the tight, three part harmonies of the Beatles and Ben Folds Five. Throw in the caustic wit of Elvis Costello, the nostalgia of George Gershwin and the moodiness of Radiohead, and you come up with the surprising and relentless mood-swinging sound of Clubhouse Pow! Says Ed Hauk of the Green Bay News Chronicle, “Clubhouse Pow’s sound is an infectious mix of blues grooves, jazz inspired funk riffs and straight ahead rock-n-roll. This jam-happy quartet is not afraid to combine diverse musical tastes to create danceable, easily accessible music that drifts effortlessly from one style to the next.” Collectively, band members have opened for Cheap Trick, Blessid Union of Souls, Tina and the B-Sides, Our Lady Peace, The Gufs, The Honeydogs, Citizen King, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Material Issue and The Bodeans.
