    Artist History
Established in 1999 in Bremerton, WA, Butterface has been gaining notoriety as one of the premier live bands in the Pacific Northwest. Their sold-out shows, frenzied fans and infectious hooks have earned them a substantial following in a short period of time. Songwriter Brian Jennings spent some time in Los Angeles, playing with No. 9 (Hifi/Sire). It was there that he met Steve McMaster, playing the Sunset Strip. The chemistry was instant, both as musicians and brothers. To complete the band they needed to find the right rhythm section. Brian stole his former drummer Brian Lilly, and then got Kempton Baker on bass. They relocated to Bremerton, WA and now we have Butterface! Butterface combines many influences to create their own unique sound. You will hear Punk, Pop, Rock, plus others. For the full experience, you must see the band live.

    Press Reviews
From the June 21, 2000 issue of The Rocket - Bremerton-based Butterface are a baffling brew of sonic components, a musical tossed salad consisting of poppy, humorous lyrics slapped over the top of heavy-duty guitar, as well as bass and drums that can lay down a groove one song, only to work at a frenetic, punky pace the next. Then again, lead vocalist/guitarist Brian Jennings and guitarist Steve McMaster crossed paths in Los Angeles where rock and roll hybrids mutate like tadpoles at Hanford. However, it wasnt until they recruited Bummertown bassist Marshall Trotland and drummer Brian Lilly that the bands No Doubt-like approach was solidified. Judging from their self-released, eponymously-titled EP (which includes the poetic gems Psycho Queen and Sex Hangover), these boys are going to be making a lot of trips over the water in the near future. -Steve Stav
