Artist description
"Melodic and urgent, The Switched On is a 4 piece band from the Albany, NY area re-writing the book on audible excitement. Well thought out and well played, the song structure is constantly shifting while a solid rhythm section holds it all in place." |

Press Reviews

"I was pleasantly surprised to hear the immense quality of the recording on this demo. Definitely the best sounding release in a while. Good, natural sounds all around. I really like how the first song gets your attention, really kicking out the jams early and often. Numerous guitar tricks and wankery, although VERY tastefully done. Usually guitar effects are a crapshoot; either you can pull it off, or you come up sounding like some boring King Crimson or Dream Theater ripoff. The Switched On definitely falls into the earlier category, relying more on the crunch of their guitars and amps, and less on their numerous footswitches and pedals. Each song has a different approach, going from straight up alterna-rock to whispers of hardcore and punk (from whence some members descended).
I always find it distasteful to compare bands to other bands, but I always end up doing it. I found it really hard to compare The Switched On to any other band, simply because they are immensely diverse; literally switching genres in the middle of songs. I'm just going to say they sound like four men who have matured musically, leaving most of their former projects in the dust in favor of a true fine audio mission. -HL"
