    Artist description
Dan Sheehan is a guitarist/singer/writer from New York who makes mostly rock music but also performs as a solo acoustic performer and has written music of various styles from Celtic tin whistle tunes to classical guitar pieces. Dan spent most of the late '90s and early '00s as the driving force behind the alt-rock group BANTER, a band that rocked the city of Boston and later New York performing as a local cult-status band but achieving international recognition thanks to the internet with features and chart-making songs on mp3.com, Vitaminic.fr, zebox.com, soundclick.com and obscruiosity.us. After the original lineup of BANTER disbanded, Dan relocated to New York City and performed for a year with new musicians under the Banter moniker before going fully solo. Dan continues to perform many BANTER classics such as "Springtime in February" and "Claireville Countryside" at his solo gigs as well as new and old songs from his vast solo catalog. Dan is currently working on a debut solo CD to be released in early 2004.

    Artist History
Dan grew up in suburban Long Island, NY during the 1980s and shunned most of the music of the time, opting instead to listen to sixties and seventies rock groups such as Led Zeppelin and The Who. As a high school student Dan played in the group Mystical Inspirational Nubile Depth (M.I.N.D.), an acoustic group which performed mostly satirical numbers about the lives of suburban high school students. Later, as a student at Vassar College, Dan played rhythm guitar for the cover groups The Jerry Tuttle Band and the hippie/punk fusion group Cushion. Sheehan also studied classical guitar in college and was urged by his teacher to perform as a solo artist, performing folk and rock tunes until Sheehan would finally write some guitar instrumentals. In the early nineties Sheehan played in the EZZ Conspiracy in New York City. This band was short-lived, but provided some of the early material of Sheehan's next band, Rogues Gallery, which evolved into BANTER who are still rocking strong in the Northeast. In 2001 Sheehan recorded the concept album, "Patterns of the Rain," about a New York City subway performer. This bold venture, combining music and sound design incorporated music ranging from classical guitar to hard rock, and features Sheehan on all instruments (except for drum machine and one track borrowed from BANTER).
