Artist History
"Under the infinite HeX of Death"
The basis for what was to become the covenant of
VIRULENT was formed in the late 90's by guitarist Rene
en drummer Maarten, who, in those days, was
still taking care of the bassparts and the
vocals. The aim of the horde was what it is still
today; the creation of extreme deathmetal in it's most
ruthless and yet most atmospheric form.
Line-up shifts were various until by the end of 1998
guitarist Bert enforced the pact. By lack of
a suitable drummer, Maarten decided to pick up
the drumsticks to lay torment upon the battery
himself. It was in these days that the name VIRULENT
emerged from the Ap-Zu, representing all
that the band stands for; Intensity, Hostility and
the powers of the Occult beyond all measures
In the early days of the year 1999, vocalist Jorre
left the ill-fated blackmetalband he was previously
active in to take his place in the
Virulent Order. Around the same time the first
complete songs evolved. In May of that same year
Virulent exposed themselves to public for the first
time. On a metalfest in Utrecht together with
bands like Centurian and Ancient Rites.
The gig was well received and resulted in the offer
from the Skullcrusherlabel to appear on
their compilationCD. In june the band recorded 2
songs, namely 'Summer 3796' and 'Fear Us', in the
Moscow studios in Utrecht. In the studio the
bassparts were played by Maarten while the band
was forced to play live without bassist at all.
Several gigs were played in this fashion until after
some months Edwin was found to take his
position in the masses. Now finally completed, Virulent
slowly established a position in the
underground by playing a lot of gigs troughout the Netherlands
with bands like for example Centurian, God Dethroned and Altar.
In June in the new millennium Virulent entered the
Harrow studios in Losser in order to record their
debutMCD entitled; 'Under the HeX of Amdusias'.
With their debut finished and a lot of gigs planned
ahead, the Virulent HeX is thrusting forwards.
Prepared to trample down all of those
that dare to stand on their path and to
incinerate their souls
with an audial frenzy of brutal and occult deathmetal!
Stay Brutal & Support the underground! |
