Artist History
Rising Phoenix-like from the ashes of the L.A. underground scene, a regrouped Resistant is comin' at ya with "Ancient Future". After sharpening their musical teeth in the the local L.A. clubs, they went into the studio to knock out this concentrated repr esentation of what the band is all about. With Anthony on vocals and traditional flute, Katina on guitars and vocals, Rafa on bass and vocals, and Vic on drums and vocals, this recording is a distilled essence of what the band's music is all about: a blast of punk rock fury, a sledgehammer bang of speedmetal, a little funky avant garde splash, and some tribal grindcore with the uplift of the group chant soaring over the top. The music, like the band itself, represents overcoming obstacles and hardships, either big or small, while the lyrics are a poetic reflection of the spiritual dreams and aspirations of those outside of the dominant culture. Since the music and the lyrics are what it's all about, Resistant has always played, and will continue to pla y, not only regular club gigs, but also at numerous benefits for progressive causes to help the people. While words can always be used to bend and distort things for any number of greedy and selfish reasons, the sounds coming out of your ghetto blaster or cd player never will. So lets give the pen a rest and let the band's music speak for itself. Or as vocalist Anthony says, "In the end, it's all about the love!". Yeah, a hard-edged, fiery dark love that remains Resistant.ao |

Press Reviews
Resistant are: Anthony, voice; Katina, guitar/voice; Rafa, bass/voice; and Vic, drums/voice. All are veterans of the L.A. underground scene, they've recently regrouped, and you don't need to know much else. Resistant say, "Oppression breeeds resistance," and they play so that we may throw off the shackles. Hey! Refuse & resist, challenge & defy, eat the rich, refute the false, shake a leg, dance in the streets, the revolution will not tbe televised so why not make it a fun one? In other words, all art and culture takes place in some kind of social context, thus the simultaneous moving of the feet, the ass, the head and the heart is no great contradiction on coincidence. Resistant thrash out an ultra-hairy hash of punk, metal and tribally funky songs with the odd avant-garde gesture, which, along with the band's stinging social commentary, is guaranteed to bring the dark spirits awake and heave them into the mosh pit.
