Artist description
Sinister Minister was a short-lived band, formed in 1981, which only managed to play one gig featuring the local butcher (not Carol Lockwood) on vocals.
Although the gig was somewhat chaotic, one member of the audience compared the performance to the music of Captain Beefheart.
The one interesting fact about Sinister Minister is that it featured three original members of Abraxas; Nigel Hand, Andy Greenwood and John Fryer.
These recordings represent an important development phase in the forming of Abraxas which happened approximately one and a half years later.
All the tracks were played live in the studio, and are a little rough around the edges, however, the power an enthusiasm of all the musicians shine through brightly.
After Sinister Minister split, Martin Murray and Andy Greenwood joined a cabaret band 'Casino' whilst Nigel Hand and John Fryer formed 'Train' with the future Abraxas vocalist, Paul Uttley.
