Artist History Recovering Alice (formerly known as Scruff and the Boys, Jay and Scruffs wildly popular but largely unknown first band) started up in the fall of 2000 when a certain unnamed members teaching career fell flat. Though some holding three jobs already, some soon to be married, and some living in another city, all deemed this a project too important to go undone. Soon Brenton, Scruff, Jay, and Allison were taking time out from their already overworked lives as youth minister, rocket scientist, pizza delivery person, and college student to explore the rich traditions of folk/pop, where every song is way too long and has way too many words. Our only regret is that it comes too late to impress all those girls (and, in Allisons case, boys) that we liked in high school.
