    Artist History
Miscaif started with long-time friends James Francia and Dennis Krause. After playing together for years they wanted to start a full band (at the time they both played guitar and did vocals). They asked friend and bass-player fanatic Charlie Palmer to take up bass and join the band as soon as he learned how to play bass. Being a natural, it didn't take Charlie long at all to learn to play, but Charlie's first band wasn't Miscaif. A band named Deranged that featured Dave Fenton and Jason Aslanian had just lost their bass player and was looking for a replacement, and also a second guitar player. Charlie filled in the bass opening and Dennis decided to play second guitar as a side project from Miscaif. Deranged never got around to playing a show together, and when they split up Dennis returned to James in Miscaif, but brought Jason and Charlie with him. During the Deranged practices the trio knew there was defiantly good chemistry between them. On January 20th, 2001, Miscaif played their first show. James, Jason, Dennis, and Charlie took second place at the Norwood-Norfolk School talent show playing an original instrumental. This was only after a few weeks of being together. In April they played two more shows, on April 6th the band played an acoustic set for the whole school. Later that day James took his acoustic guitar and with Dennis played an unplugged set for a small crowd of people that grew to be a big group by the time they were done. Later that month the band played at the All-Night party at the school, which many people consider the best Miscaif show with that line-up (James, Jay, Den, and Charlie). After that the band started making plans for a studio album. "Cavity" and "What Will Become" were two of the first and best songs. In June the band recorded the first demo to the album which was set to be titled "Soundcheck," and on June 15th the band gave a first preview of the songs at the 6th annual Rock Show. The summer of 2001 was spent writing and perfecting material for soundcheck. In the fall however, the band started to fight as the studio date drew closer. With all the pressure and stress the band decided it would be best to break up. That was not the end of Miscaif however. Instead it was a new beginning. Jason and Dennis continued to play together and started writing new material, better than ever, without any of the pressures. After a long search for a new bassist, Charlie decided to rejoin and the band was now complete, with the same line-up as before minus James. On April 16th, '02, Dennis recorded an acoustic demo with their new songs, "Indulge," "Rewind," "Fallen," and "Run Away." On April 26th, the band played their first live show in over 10 months at the place where it all started, the Norwood-Norfolk talent show. That summer, after playing some more local shows, the band went up to Ottawa to record thier first ever studio tracks. The demo included See You Around, Home Again, Rewind, and Indulge...
