Artist description State Machine is William Manganaro. His trade by day, an electronic engineer and a creator of electronically produced music and electronic instrumentation by evening. Since I was a kid, my ears always sort of gravitated toward synthetic music regardless of what was the popular music of the day. I have always loved the rhythmic sense of it all and was impressed with the fact that electronic circuits could produce all those great sounds! Back in the early eighties I was also wrapped up in the punk movement and started a punk rock band called Eclipse where I mangled many a drum kit. It was a great outlet during my more youthful times covering those Ramones tunes. I now prefer writing code for embedded systems and playing with amateur rockets to slam dancing! I guess that's progress right? With the arrival of cheaper, faster computers, affordable software synthesizer/sequencers coupled with a good sense of techno "gadgets", I am now a participant of the electronic music movement that is so popular today. I started composing my electronic music in June of 2000 and have released my first CD called "Attack Engineer". I am still trying to define my music style but it can definitely fall in the class of "electronic". State Machine's music has a tendency to change direction through each composition, a sort of "sonic morphing" if you will. Some songs take me hours to create, some take weeks. What ever it takes, I will always try to "hook" you into listening. I have gotten a very positive response from Attack Engineer so far so I am inspired to move on and create more music. SM.

Artist History Started producing my music in June of 2000 in the place I call "The Engineering Room". The ENGINEERING ROOM is now becoming a full up electronic music "Project Studio", a hybrid of both computer and external MIDI hardware sound modules controllers and percussion devices. It also serves as electronics design, construction and repair lab. It serves my extreme NERDish behavior by quenching my thirst for all things technical AND musical..... I don't take myself to seriously and I keep an open mind to any sonic experimentation. I went from high power rocket science to electronic music ...
