Artist History
Ian McArthur AKA aiffhead has consistently produced his sound since the early 80's when he began experimenting with electronic musiq/noise as a response to the inpiration of punk and post-punk.
The new environment created the challenge of reassessing almost everything as cultural supports are completly removed. The strategy has led to a reinterpretation of the original aiffhead sound incorporating new software and sound sources into the creative process. This can only be seen as a positive and stimulating step to new ground at least in a personal sense.
There is no manifesto as such - like aiffhead, Black Cell is an intuitive process borne from experiments with samples, beats, found sounds and digitally enhanced and created vocal snatches. When complete a composition is evaluated as to which monika is the most appropriate...my general feeling is that Black Cell will be reserved for the darker end of the spectrum of material generated... |
