Artist History
I was born and raised in East Oakland. My family relocated to Norfolk, Virginia when I was eight years old. When I first decided to start rapping, I was seventeen. My family didn't show much interest in my decision, but they do support me whenever possible. I use my name "J. Dandridge" because I want to represent myself. I feel I have major flows for the rap industry, which is how I came up with the idea of Flow Major Records for my business. I've been active as a hip-hop artist for five years and worked very had to get where I am today. Artists like Too Short, Jayy-Z, A Tribe Called Quest, The Lox, MC Lyte, and the Geto Boys, just to name a few, inspired me to further my career. I also feel these artists speak from experience, sacrificing a lot to be where they are today. I am my own role model. I keep myself on track with a lot of mental discipline. I entered the BET Coca-Cola Talent Search and out of 5,000 artists, I was chosen to be one of eight to perform. My first album, "Too Experienced" has sold 10,000 copies in eight months time, straight from a duffel bag. Despite the negativity directed towards me, I maintain a strong positive outlook on myself and my rapping career, which I feel will get me over any and all obstacles that may come about. My rap style is 60% West Coast, 40% East Coast, and 100% of myself. I believe with this versatility, I can provide the music industry a unique style. In the meantime, I will continue to run my business, climbing the stairs to success. For more info, contact: Flow Major Records, P. O. Box 23821, Oakland, CA 94623-0821 |
