Artist History
BMP is committed to the healthy and steady growth of the hip-hop community in Africa. We remain independent, in an attempt to maintain creative control, because so many fellow artists have lost out due to dodgy contracts & wack record deals.
Initially the intention was to establish a hip-hop group that would record its material and then go out into the great wide yonder in search of a record and/or distribution deal. However upon realizing the potential and talent invested within the group members themselves, we decided to form a entertainment collaboration. Simply put, this was a miniature recording and distribution house. The objective remained to establish promotion and maintenance of the hip-hop culture.
So with this ideology in mind, these very same founders and revolutionized artisans released the first project in December ’99 under the nom de disque’; Basemental Platform. The 12 track hip-hop album, entitled Urban Knoize was self-distributed and to conclude the chapter a video of the next project to come came in the form of a single called B.M.P wit Luv which was aired on Yfm (local music station supporting the Hip-Hop community

Press Reviews
From the Hip-Hop Headrush, 11/08/2000 1.1.1., WORDS BY SPEX-"UNDER PRESSURE Hola! I'm back like die wit wolwe. Back with some of that gooood shit. The shit that makes you feel proud of SA Hip-Hop because you can see that it's got hope after all. Although I must say that I am disappointed - only one crew got in touch with me after the last column to let me know what they are up to. What are the rest of you doing? Sitting and vegetating? Anyway. First up, we have an 8 MC crew, Basemental Platform (BMP). These dudes released a 12 track album, "Urban Knoize" (Silvah Kneedle) earlier this year. They apparently have a track called "dikgang" where they dis yours truly, Amu and Mizchif....."

It's been a while but I'm back like recycled paper. As promised, BMP (Basemental Platform) are dropping their album. Their first single is tantatively titled "BMP with Love". Rhymes and poetry over some NICE strings. The Hip-Hop Headrushc/o DJ Mass DosagePostnet Suite 81Private bag x87Bryanston2021SOUTH AFRICA |
