Artist description
Solomon McCrea is a multi-talented musician living in the Sacramento area. He first was exposed to music as a child when he participated in his school's orchestra as a violinist. Over the years he has broadened his musical scope and now is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and cellist. Solomon has performed at a variety of local venues with his backup band or as a solo performer. He has been getting a reputation as an intense performer who composes unique melodies and writes lyrics that stick in your head. The music can be generally categorized as Emo (short for emotional music) but it is influenced by Folk, Alternative Rock, Old Country, Celtic and Classical music. His favorite influential artists include Nick Drake, U2, Tracy Chapman and Neil Young. Solomon McCrea is in the studio working on a full production recording that is scheduled for release in Spring of 2003. |

SacTown Music Newsletter:
The last show I got to go check out was Solomon McCrea and the New Pioneers at Cafe Paris, one of my favorite small bars to see bands at. It is small but the sound there can still outdo quite a few other local places, not to mention any names. Although I arrived late, or Solomon started early, I did get to see the last few songs of his set and in person he lives up to his recordings I have heard. His guitar playing stunned me as unique and talented and his vocals seemed to match that perfectly. I look forward to his upcoming releases and new songs in the works...
