    Artist History
Bonnie Bishop is a bright new star in the Texas music sky, with powerful vocals and an impressive range that enunciate the passion and emotion in this young singer’s captivating lyrics. A Lone Star native, Bonnie began her career in music nearly 12 years ago, training in everything from opera to blues to musical theater and hopping from one state and coast to the next. She claims she was motivated by a feeling that her heart was always “somewhere else”, and it wasn’t until she began writing her own tunes that she figured out just where her true talent lay - right here in Texas country music. Since moving back to her home state three years ago, Bonnie has performed and recorded with Texas greats like Derrick O'Brien, Riley Osbourn, Lloyd Maines, John Enman, Chris Maresh, and Eddie Cantu, and collaborated on several other recording projects, from blues to Christian albums. She has made numerous appearances at Babe’s on Sixth, Poodie’s Hilltop Caf, and at Antone's famed "Blue Monday", and performs for private functions around Austin and Houston. Bonnie insists that one of her most impressive and “patriotic” accomplishments is her rendition of the National Anthem, which she has performed at over half a dozen nationally- televised college football games over the past three years. She was also given the honor of performing for an ESPN tribute to the victims of the September 11 tragedy. Most recently, the singer’s writing skills have begun to gain her recognition as a poignant and moving songwriter as well. Her music reflects both the joys and pains of relationships, with moving testimonies of her faith and experience in songs like “Goin’ Back to Texas” and “Send Me a Cowboy”. At the same time, Bonnie likes to express her sense of humor about life with comedic anecdotal songs such as “Men are Like Buses”, which she attributes to the many “lessons in leavin’” she has learned to laugh at over the years. She is quickly turning the heads of country fans and music connoisseurs alike with her recently completed demo of original music, which she recorded at Arlyn Studios this year. The four-song EP conveys both the singer’s fresh, sultry voice and all the passion and boldness of her very big - very TEXAS - personality. This is music that is energetic and flavored with all the sass and wit you would expect from a Lone Star girl but still easily transcends the generations and all the while remains true to its purist country roots. The CD was also recently added to Barnes & Nobles prestigious list of registered music and will be made available to store patrons this spring. When she’s not onstage, Bonnie volunteers her time to her church youth group and is currently organizing a youth-led praise band as well. “It’s a hard job, but somebody has to love teenagers.” She gives much heartfelt thanks to her dog and family and friends, who have all been very supportive and encouraging of her aspirations –especially her parents who have graciously contributed their resources and patience from the beginning. But most of all, she says: "Thanks to God for the gift that is my heart. May it always make You smile
