Artist History AfterBlack AfterBlack is a hard rock five piece whose heavy melodic groove is influenced by bands ranging from TOOL, Soundgarden and Jane's Addiction, to the psychedelic creations of The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Based out of San Diego, AfterBlack has their collective mind, body, and spirit focused on creating, communicating, and working non-stop to make a lasting contribution and impact on the world of music and beyond. AfterBlack is currently touring the southwest and west coast in support of their independently released c.d. Release The members of AfterBlack came together, piece by piece, over the course of 1997-2002. AfterBlack was officially born in November of 2000 and has been working tirelessly since. Beginning with the first AfterBlack show in February of 2001, the band has maintained a full schedule, playing 10-15 shows per month. AfterBlack’s eclectic style has resulted in shows filled with a wide range of music fans. From indie rockers to metal heads, punk rockers to hippies, AfterBlack communicates in a way that any music fan can understand and appreciate. AfterBlack has enjoyed many great shows, from their c.d. release party for Release at “Cane’s” in Mission Beach, CA. ( a club that hosts hundreds of national acts each year ), to their west coast tour from San Diego to Seattle ( with stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and other great towns along the way ); but the best is still yet to come, as they begin their national tour in 2002 AfterBlack is: Alexxx- ( bass and vocals ) a self trained musician, who has been playing the bass since he was fifteen years of age. Originally from Holland, this world traveller is the groove of AfterBlack. Chilly- ( guitars )the latest addition to AfterBlack from the Seattle area, he completes the band's "wall of sound". D- Dave Marinesi- ( drums ) a veteran drummer with 15 years of drumming behind him, originally from San Diego, CA, whose tribal style and technical skills leave jaws dropped at every show. Influenced by Danny Carey and the progressive rock of Rush and Yes, he is the foundation AfterBlack is built on. Resin- ( guitars and vocals ) a guitar menace who rides sound frequencies like wild horses. This dark master is what lurks in the shadows of AfterBlack. Sebren- (vocals) a published poet, originally from Chicago, IL, whose vocal diversity and stage presence cannot be resisted. Influenced by Maynard James Keenan, Chris Cornell and KRS-1, he is the voice of the chaos and harmony of AfterBlack.
