Artist History
Founding members Paul Felt and Lauren Bielski met at a work-related cocktail party. The two songwriters realized they shared an unusual number of musical likes and influences.
Songwriting and years of open mics followed, 1997-9.
Songwriter friends Lisa Bridge joined on keys and percussion and Christopher Cambra on bass in late 1999, for a Nov. 1 show at C-Note in New York. Cambra soon moved.
The band went on a one-year hiatus from performing and recording in 2000, regrouping with songwriter friend Brian Aspinwall on bass. As a trio, the band returned to C-Note in Jan. 2001.
Drummer Belinda Otto was recruited to the band in Feb. 2001, with a tight and focused, but sparsely attended C-Note show in March as a trio.
Bassist Suki Fujioka was recruited in May 2001. Performances as a quartet followed at Continental, the Triad Lounge and ACME Underground.
Wanda Mercury disbanded June 6, 2002.
