Artist History
This Barí band was founded somewhere in the years 70's by some friends in Antriol; Robby Martis and Bubu Evertsz.
At the end of each year they play Barí catching up on all the gossip and the news of the ending year.
In the week ends they bring some ambiance in front of Teater Oranje and during the carnival time this shaked the centre of Kralendijk with them jump-up krioyo next to Teater Carib.
In 1993 they decided to do something more serious and organised with the band by incorporating more instruments like Kwarta, Wiri and Bass.
It was the beginning of a new era with performances during cultural activities and also private parties.
Bit by piece this nameless band began to obtain publicity.
In 1994 the band got a golden opportunity to represent Bonaire at the Festival Afro Caribense on Valencia, Venezuela.
But participating without a band name was hard to do.
That was the moment they'd make a choise and named the band by of a rock situated in the North of Bonaire; Piedra di Bonaire.
Grupo Piedra di Bonaire became a success and represents Bonaire on more festivals.
Among others; Carifesta on Trinidad and Tobago, Festival del Caribe in Cancún, Mexico, at the Festival Kultural di Ibagué, Colombia and also on Aruba and Curaçao.
The band played also with different dance groups and took part with the recording of a CD special for a year ending.
In 1996 Piedra di Bonaire recorded a cassette with Barí songs.
The realisation, in 1997, of this recording has been possible by the good affection that the Foundation for the Preservation of Klein Bonaire has for the band.
Mobilising the whole world, the Foundation is raising funds to re-buy OUR island Klein Bonaire.
On this recording you can listen to 10 songs with a variation in rhythm having the title Kansion I Ritmo pa Klein Bonaire. After this recording the band has changed the name to Agrupashon Pal'i Wiri.
