Artist description
Tian is recognized as one of the world's virtuoso pianists. Tian was born in China during the great famine resulting from the cultural revolution. Although his family were condemned as intellectuals, Tian, a child prodigy, pursued his natural musical talent. Graduating from the Shanghai Conservatory, Tian was one of the first artists allowed to leave China to study in the United States.
Tian has performed as a solist and with orchestras in more than 30 cities around the world, including most recently with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Shanghai Grand Theater. Tian's natural compositional skills were highlighted on NPR's "All Things Considered" and Tian has made many television appearances. |

Press Reviews
"It is a rare treasure to experience art that, once suppressed and now liberated, seems to reach more deeply, burn more brightly for its journey. This is the case of Tian, master concert pianist and brilliant composer. Rightfully, Tian's compositions will be remembered. For they are a unique marriage of Western harmonies and technical strength with the Eastern psyche that reach a peak of millennial universality." |
