Artist History
The Blue Mantis came into being as a sampling/loop based computer band. After two independently released albums, the band (at the time just Matt) became bored with using computers to make music. At this point, Chris joined the band and The Blue Mantis headed into the studio, instruments in hand, to record a long awaited third album. Weeks became months and over 100 songs were recorded. Many of these songs were released in a series of three albums (Vitiate, The Ninth House, and Beau Ideal) Matt then moved to New York City and continued recording by himself using the Blue Mantis name. Songs recorded in late 2001 in New York have just been released on an 11 song EP entitled Goldbrick. The Blue Mantis' next full length LP is due in the near future. Chris continues to record and play as a member of The Catch in Raleigh, NC. If you are interested in seeing videos for songs by The Blue Mantis, contact the band at:
