Steve R crossed the California border in 1990 - a refugee of more than a few East Coast based cover bands and miles of touring the endless black ribbon stretching across the Southwest. While searching for battle worthy challenges R gained time on target in extreme ranges from R&B to roots Rock to Hard Moody to Avant-Experimental electronic while strapped into the six string gunner slot for power pop trio the Reckless Ways. Heavily influenced by players as diverse as Stevie Ray Vaughn and Prince broad musical taste and the imagery of cyberpunk fiction Rs guitar style is best described as firmly bolted down in American Roots while reaching for the near future. After 7 years in the Ways lead vocalist Mini Mendez hit the off switch formed the Glimmer stars and R formed his own sugar coated love offering r is for rocket in 1999. The bands debut solid fueled liquid cool in was released in early 2000 and Steve R made the transition from player to producer/songwriter. Later that same year Steve R (aka romeo1) showed up on titles from Angel Short and Acoustic Shack (R can be found stage left in Acoustic Shacks current live lineup). No stranger to multiplicity R is currently playing live and recording with Acoustic Shack and the Glimmer Stars while recording the follow up to r is for rockets debut remixing Shack tracks from their recent release and producing a new offering from vocalist Leslie Du Pre Grimaud.
