Artist description
Joalby is a 22-year-old male singer-songwriter from San Diego. He wrote his first song at the age of 11 and just kept writing since then. Joalby is currently in the process of finishing up his debut album, which will feature guest appearances by established indie artists such as Eve Selis, Randi Driscoll, DEVON, Shiloh Oldham, and Sarah Wolf.
Joalby began his career in music by singing in church choirs and at a very young age decided that music is what he wanted to do with his life. At the age of 12 he began participating in musical theatre with the Christian youth Theatre. This was only a foreshadowing of what was to come.
At the age of 13 Joalby auditioned for a part in Metropolis and out of thousands got the part. Metropolis was originally debuted in Europe and made its way over to the USA for which Joalby received a part in. The rock opera made it to the American College Theatre Festival Finals and Joalby traveled with the show. Although the show did not win the award, Joalby was honored to receive an award of recognition from the American College Theatre Festival Final Board.
Since then Joalby has been busy writing and working on his debut album, to get his music out to the masses. At the age of 22, Joalby is proud to say he has had a lot of good reaction to his music.
More recently, Joalby has been branching out and writing for other people. He was asked recently to write for Alden Wynn (a contestant on Season Two of American Idol) and for Todd Evans (semifinalist on FAME).
Joalby will be writing and co-producing Todd Evans’ debut single and the song he wrote for Alden Wynn will be the only song on Alden’s debut album not co-written with N’Syncs producer Brian Poppin. That goes to show that his talent is already being joined with other well-known individuals.
In addition to music Joalby is a philanthropist working with the March Of Dimes and Habitat For Humanity recently. Joalby’s most recent philanthropic acts find him organizing a benefit album for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence as well as assisting in fundraising efforts for the Aids Walk of San Diego.
As you can see, Joalby is more than just an artist. He is an artist that cares, and at the young age of 22 he has a lot more coming in the future...... |

Press Reviews
Joalby's Fleetwood Mac influences as well as some I think early rock are brought to center stage in "& Then They Throw Me Away". Melodious and catchy the song quickly brings a tinge of familiar space. The pop flavor adds drama and unique flavor to an already lyrically and musically strong piece. Following in the same style but with what seems to be a twist of the Beatles is "Miscellaneous Pi". Equally strong with a message which creeps in and then grabs. A haunting refrain which lingers and leaves a bittersweet afterglow. A good showing from a young and talented artist. Be sure to check out Joalby's website and keep watch on where this young man is going. - Online Review from Stonewall Society.com
-when an artist can record hard-hitting Goth, guitar folk, alternative pop, get established artists to join in on the production, write and perform in styles that range from Marilyn Manson to Stevie Nicks, you've got a real renaissance man; when the artist just turned legal age in most states, you might have a musical Michelangelo on your hands. Joalby is this artist, and "One of the Damned" is one example in his musical spectrum. Keep an ear out on the music scene for Joalby, 'cause he's coming. (Crazy Baby Records)- Jon G Leavitt for Radio Stonewall
"I love "One of the Damned" Sounds like a smash. I dug the guitars and the antarej box on your voice. The second song is so honest & lyrically vulnerable. I dug all three." - RCA Recording Artist Leah Andreone
"Joalby" is a refreshing new talent in the singer/songwriter category!! He is sure to be a hit in any Genre!" - Alden Wynn (recording artist and actor of American Idol Season 2 |
