Artist History
This is where we are now..........
In a world where nu-metal and mainstream pop music is dominating the airwaves, it seems unusual for a group of 5 young lads to be playing real rock music - especially if they want to make a living out of it.
Chapter Thirt13n however, are a complete exception to that rule. Combining influences that range from Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd through to Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Rage Against the Machine, Chapter Thirt13n certainly know where their roots (and their frets) are.
Chapter Thirt13n originally formed in March 2000 as a 4-Piece. However, after several low key gigs and their first demo "Unlucky For Some", the band decided to recruit a 5th member. Jason Booth joined as a second guitarist, and the bands' visions of how they wanted to sound started to become a formality.
As a 5-Piece, the band began to think more about the songs, drawing inspiration from their idols - layering the songs with riffs and arpeggios rather than resorting to trap of mundane strumming which some bands fall into.
In March 2001, Chapter Thirt13n booked 3 days of studio time in Woodman Recording Studios, Elland where they completed their debut E.P "Fighting Your Soul".
It was this EP which gained Chapter Thirt13n entrance into the Futuresound 2001 Competion - one of 30 bands out of over 250 who entered. Although failing to finish in the top six, and play the Leeds Festival, the band were pleased to have qualified, especially when they had been going as a 5-Piece for less than 6 months.
The EP "Fighting Your Soul" is currently on sale in various record shops throughout West Yorkshire.
The band have also completed a 3 Track Demo as a result of their headline slot at the Packhorse in Leeds, where they were offered a free recording session after their performance.
In the last couple of months, the band have played some prestigious support slots, one of which saw them supporting Tracie Hunter - daughter of Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople at the New Roscoe in Leeds.
The future's looking good for Chapter Thirt13n. There are plans for a self released album later on in the year and a tour of the country which should take place in the summer.

Press Reviews
Chapter Thirteen are an awe-inspiring group with the potential to bring rock music back to the mainstream where it belongs. Finally, here's a band with a singer who isn't there to reel off a load of sentimental slush but honest lyrics that anyone listening can instantly understand and relate to because they weren't written by a prententious, dictionary-munching hypocrite but genuine feeling that the youth of today can relate to. All three guitarists have obviously worked hard to create harmonies in a style that can only be described as mesmerising but in a way that isn't too ott and gives depth to the songs rather than noise. It was refreshing to hear some musicians who can play and don't have to rely upon overpowering effects and distortion. Chapter Thirteen are an amazing band, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
