Artist description
nero is a trio of young musicians based in 0ttawa, Ontario who dedicate themselves to the creation of intense instrumental rock music. Tipping their collective hat to the exploratory jamming of Phish, the guitar wizardry of Eric Johnson, and the rock/jazz sounds of Medeski, Martin, and Wood, nero lays down eclectic grooves and soundscapes that infuse extended improvisations with any number of popular musical styles. While the three piece format allows freedom and space to the individual musicians, nero's live sound is fleshed out with the use of onstage sampling.Growing audiences in the Ottawa area has led nero to larger venues and high profile gigs at home, including a slot in the enormous New Years Eve concert at Ottawa's Congress Centre and a set at last summer's Fresh Festival, sharing the bill with such acts as Sloan, The Tea Party, The Roots and Parliament. Once nero began headlining Ottawa's biggest venues, it was time to expand. Now regularly appearing all over Ontario and coming off a short tour in the east coast, nero has developed a tight live show that fills the dance floor and leaves audiences bopping their heads. Several internet radio stations have taken notice of nero and have included the band in regular rotation spots. Although, like most jam-oriented bands, nero should be experienced as the great live band that they are, and through touring and playing as many out-of-town shows as possible, nero's mission is now to take the music directly to the people. |
