Artist description
Pronounced: Hip - No - Pay - Dee - Yuh. Hypnopaedia is a trio consisting of guitar, bass, and drum kit. Percussion was overdubbed in some of the recordings and all three members sing. Hypnopaedia is a band without a genre. They believe confining oneself to one particualr genre is equivalent to just looking at one star in the night's sky and ignoring the rest. Hypnopaedia combines rock, jazz, swing, afro-cuban music, punk, funk, free improvisation, and waltzes. Often genres never before combined appear together. For example, the song Amazon Mamasan combines a heavy jazz progression with a crunching rock chorus. Just for fun a waltz is also included in the mix. Hypnopaedia's lyrics range from the downright silly to socially concious. The band is based in Seattle, Washington. |
