Press Reviews
Perhaps best known at the Club for her work as lead singer with the Latin/Jazz band "Samara" (see Friday 30th). But as well as a wonderful Latin singer (she is originally from Portugal and specialises in music from Brazil), Guida is also a remarkable soul singer, as her time with the American jazz/funk saxophonist Ronnie Laws will attest to. She performs a mixture of Soul and R&B songs from the likes of Aretha Franklin and the Blues Brothers, and is supported by a powerful rhythm section of highly experienced players. Anyone interested in great Soul singing should definitely make it down for this one! |
