    Artist description
Didginus is a San Diego band featuring an original blend of danceable and spirited music from around the world. The most noticeable ingredient is the sound of the Australian didgeridoo, played by one of the finest players on the scene. Providing the thumpin' beats are the standard drum kit, the West African djembe, and a load of percussion from all over the world. Harmony and melody is added by flutes from around the world, voice, and heavily effected electric guitar and bass. The vocals incorporate a wide variety of influences, featuring everything from chant to beatboxing to readings of the poetry of 13th century Sufi mystic Jelalludin Rumi. Also joining on occassion is a musician specializing in instruments of India, mainly sitar and tablas. These instruments appear on Didginus' brand new cd, "More Than Alive."

    Artist History
Didginus was formed in 1995 when San Diego-based didgeridoo player/multi-instrumentalist Randy Graves began searching for musicians to bring to life his dream of an ethnically influenced band to move people, both in their souls and on their feet. The band came together quickly, and has since performed everywhere from hospital lobbies to health food grocery stores to large concert halls, and will be appearing in an internationally televised benefit concert in Fall '99. The band has released two cd's, "Into the Soul" and "More Than Alive."

    Press Reviews
"Didginus is a wonderfully eclectic group that performs their music with an almost spiritual dedication and surrender. You can't listen to their music without feeling the urge to move and your soul wanting to fly." -Vision Magazine - "Randy Graves handily mastered the didgeridoo, an Australian aboriginal horn that consists only of a long tube taller than the musician. It's the kind of instrument that people often use just to show how enlightened they are about non-Western musical traditions, but in the context of this piece it seemed as much at home as the flute..." -The San Diego Union-Tribune - "How do you describe music that transcends traditional musical boundaries. You don't. So in the case of Didginus and their debut CD Into the Soul, it is more a matter of how their work moves and inspires you. And move you it does." -Vision Magazine - "I never expected such agressive and cool playing... Randy blew me away. Didginus' performance is a total experience, very art and performance oriented. They have a large following of strange and unusual characters." -a new fan
