Press Reviews
www.Listen.com [Reviewer Information for Jay Money the Revolution has Just begun] --- Assylum 44 kidnap Sir Nose Devoid O'Funk and brainwash him into thinking he's an Old-School rapper. Thoroughly processed voice rhymes slow and steady over smashing drums.================ www.Traxinspace.com [Reviewer Information for undeground shit] ---- Name : Zion Ministry [Detailed Review] Overall Impression: 7/10 Artistic License : 5/10 Comments about Artistic License : I think a bit more of a unique sound would really hype up this piece. Another take on the vocals and a nice hook, maybe. The song just comes off as not having a whole lot of energy. Arrangement : 8/10 Comments about Arrangement : I like the chorus. It seems to come in at appropriate times, right where it's needed during the song. The rhymes themselves seem to flow very, very well. Creativity : 7/10 Comments about Creativity : The rhymes themselves are very well written, but the artist gets a little monotone in some parts. In some of these parts I don't understand what he's saying because it's sort of mumbly. The beat itself is quite good, however. Sample Quality : 8/10 Comments about Sample Quality : There's not a lot of samples in this one. Just the drums and the vocals (is that a cell phone ringing in the background?). The drums are pretty well done. I like the beat. It kind of grows on you the more you listen to it. Does It Work as a Piece of Music: Y Comments about Your Piece's Working as Music: A basic, stripped down kind of rap track. It really screams "underground" in that there's not a lot of production, just simple beat and vocal (freestyle maybe?). I'm not sure if that's an intentional thing or not, but based on the quality of the rhymes themselves, I have to give up some props to the artist. Could benefit greatly from a really hype remix. Review : A pretty decent hip hop track. Shades of Puffy and Mase in the rhymes and the voice style. The track as a whole, however, seems to be lacking something. However, "trip-hop/acid jazz", the song is not. This is straight rap, no question. There's nothing in the song that even implies another genre. |
