Artist History
Recently formed as a band, the new trust was Josh Staples (The Velvet Teen) solo outlet that never quite got off the ground. After recording several times alone, he made the decision that a band was his favorite way to work. Sara Sanger was added on guitar, mainly because she was sitting in the house watching him write these songs, when he said "hey do this on this guitar while I plunk around on the piano for three hours." (plus his pick up line about 8 years earlier had been 'you want to be in my band?'). The fire was lit under Josh and Sara to make this a 'real thing' and not just a once in a while
project. They found Julia Lancer, who wasn't difficult to find, since she worked at the cafe that Sara went to everyday (because, as many know, Sara is committed to not 'getting a real job right now'). Julia's growing talent and passion for music were assets that made her a great friend already, so being a bandmate came naturally. Also sitting at the cafe was Mike Richardson from Benton Falls, (he too from that tail end of Gen-X-er committed to not really committing to a 'real job'). Mike plays guitar really well, and since he was the only other friend left of theirs that Josh hadn't already been in a band with (seriously), he seemed a logical choice.
But when he began helping to write and really taking the band seriously, it was all in the works. |
