Artist History
Seven Head Division is an indie rock trio based out of Rochester, NY. The band was formed in 1999 as a solution to former members departing from the original line up. Down sizing a five-piece group to a mere trio seems intimidating to say the least, but the inspiration to create passionate music united the three and the result is captivating. The current members include Andy King (drums), Joel Votaw (bass), and Brian Moore (guitar /vocals).
Seven Head Division recorded a short demo at Mammoth Studios in April of 2000. One of the songs, Monday Morning, is included on the Atomic Federation compilation. They were fortunate enough to have Jesse Sprinkle (Poor Old Lu) produce and engineer the CD. In 2001 the band went on to release a split full-length CD with The World Inside on True Tunes Records. The band recorded during February of that year at Spectre Studios in Seattle, WA. Tim Harmon engineered, produced, and mixed the songs. This is their first release on the label. Seven Head also has a song that appears exclusively on the seventh chapter of the Emo Diaries compilation series released by Deep Elm Records.
Over the past years, Seven Head Division has toured the northeast, south, mid-west, and west coast. With their extensive touring as a self-promoted indie band SHD has performed in such major cities as Nashville TN, Louisville KY, Seattle WA, Portland OR, Chicago IL, Syracuse NY, Buffalo NY, Baltimore MD, and Ocean City MD. Tours are planned for these areas as well as Canada and eventually overseas. The band recently played in New Hampshire at the Inside-out Soul Fest with major bands such as P.O.D., Jennifer Knapp, BeanBag, Earthsuit, and many others. Seven Head has appeared with many national recording artists including, The World Inside, Morellas Forest, The Waiting, Jacobstone, Mike Knott, Joy Electric, and Havalia Rail Co.
